Snippet organisation

Hello,

I use Heidi everyday - and love it!
A feature I'd love to see is the snippet folder being able to have sub folders or some sort of organisational structure

It gets difficult, sometimes, to find the one I need...mainly the ones that I don't use very often

Just a suggestion...love it anyway!!

Cheers :)

Nice idea,

but what i am missing more with snippets is that the overweriting of snippets is a pain. Instead of just saving under the name it is needed to reenter the used name.

@Ansgar: is there maybe a possibility to easen the overwriting of snippets after editing?

Greetz :)

Had the same idea some time ago, as it's annoying to have to write the exact filename a second time for overwritung. Thought I should turn the edit box for the filename into a combobox, and populate it with all snippet names. Or similar, with an additional radio button "new snippet" + "overwrite existing".

Good idea, would really help :)

BTW: wouldn't it be a good idea to have an export-function for the snippets. A collegue of mine and myself had to set up new pc's and both of us totally forgot about the snippets.
Maybe a choosable path would also be helpful ;)

any news about this topic ?

No news yet. Forum posts tend to get forgotten or overseen, while they're good for doing discussions. But this should definitely be reported as enhancement request in the issue tracker. Could you, please...?

Oh, we have already one which I had marked wrongly as duplicate: see issue #3276.

Yes, that was just the first one of two steps. The second one will be to extend the "Save snippet" dialog as described above.
