Hey Anse

Just wondering how I would export all data (settings and connections) from one installation of Heidi on my desktop to my laptop so I dont have to re-set up all the connections?

Is is as simple as File >> Export (or Import) settings? Reason I ask is that when I have done that it doesnt 'work'

Thanks

Jamie

Yes that should work.

One thing I would recommend *before* you export is, that you update to the latest build (Help > Check for updates). I recently worked on this export function, e.g. the file format has changed from a Windows Registry file (.reg) to a homebrown .txt file, which can also be used for running HeidiSQL in portable mode.

thanks Anse... will try that

Will the import overwrite anything and everything or just add connections that the desitantion installation doesnt have?

The import overwrites existing sessions and settings, but will not delete those not present in the file.
