I just installed MariaDB and set my password at installation for username > root and Host > 127.0.0.1. I did not notice that when I set the password I had my capslock on. Fortunately, I figured out my mistake quickly and was able to log in to HeidiSQL, but I would like to reset my password. From the tools menu I accessed User manager, selected the root/127.0.0.1 account, entered a new password and saved it, but it did not work. I still have to log in with the old password that I created with my capslock key on. How can I change my password?

I guess you modified the wrong user's password. Try again in the user manager, this time with the user you are passing into HeidiSQL.
