Well, the "Open" button tries to connect to the server you have selected. If it hangs, then the server settings obviously have some flaw. I cannot say more as I don't know nothing about your server nor your session settings.

I uninstalled heidisql, cleaned by ccleaner then removed registry references with regedit. Thereafter, I installed it and ran with server settings. I am getting session manager response as "not responding". Whereas, navicat with same settings is working. Heidsql also worked when it was installed for the first time.

Any suggestions please.

Please read above and check your session settings, for the server you want to connect to. If it does not respond then your server does not respond.

Sorry, to bother you again. I have checked my session settings. They are OK. Same session settings has been applied to navicat installation. But, where the navicat installation can connect, heidisql cannot. There, I suspect, is some residue of uninstallation of previously installed heidisql which is interfering. I may be wrong. But, till now I haven't got any solution.

That's indeed suspicious, if you have the same settings running on Navicat. Is it a SSH tunnel setup or what are we talking about? There are quite a few pitfalls in the session settings.

@ansgar There is no ssh tunnel. Communication is through tcp/ip.
