Export without a path, where does the file go?

Hello,

A coworker of mine uses HeidiSQL to manage his DB, and when he did the export, he only wrote the filename on the output path, instead of the entire path for the file. He assumed the export was done properly and moved on, question is...

Can the file be found somewhere? As it was intended to be a backup and would save a lot of work if we could find it.

SO Is windows 7.

Open the dialogue again, click the icon beside the "Filename" field and write down the path.

Alternatively, search for *.sql files with Windows explorer.

We have not found anything using that kind of search sadly. Doing the export again is not really an option either.

I've had a second look at this issue. My information was plain wrong:

  1. The saved last path has nothing to do with the destination of file names without a path—those get stored in the directory where heidisql.exe is located.

  2. File does not get a *.sql extension automatically.

So please have a look at %ProgramFiles%\HeidiSQL or wherever your program is.

Also, with UAC enabled your file might have ended up in the virtual storage folder.
