I've just done a bit of browsing on the Heidi site. Am I correct in that it is written with Delphi, the old Turbo Pascal database engine? Well, I'm sure it has evolved several orders of magnitude since I used it, but am I right?

That is amazing. The last time I wrote any Turbo Pascal was with version 5.5. What a great language. I do more Perl now, but one of my applications would be well suited ported to a Windows environment. Maybe I'll look into it again.

Great work developers!

Well Delphi is not a database engine, it's the IDE for the Pascal language. And it has evolved to a modern environment for all programming needs. I heard that Borland wants to get rid of Delphi, but the more it's astonnishing how great their products are.

The language Pascal is old, that's right, but that's also right for most other mainstream languages like C, Basic or SQL.
