it would be really nice if you had a toolbar button which popped up a sort of postit form to allow permanent storage of notes which people make when developing a system.

So you mean something like Outlook provides with these yellow postits? Hmm... do you really think that feature would fit into a database client?

well, its just as developer, at this very moment on my wooden desktop, i have a bunch of small notes relating to various aspects of the various databases viewable in heidi. naturally they include things one should never include such as passwords etc but sure we're all sinners. so I thought rather than a bunch of hardtofind notes, it would be really nice to have notes attached to the app to which they relate.

What about using some third party software like Post-It?

nah, tried those and gave up. what you, sorry, I need, is program specific so when I program in delphi I could see the notes which relate only to delphi projects, switch over to heidi and see the notes which apply only to the databases etc etc. It was only an idea but as nobody else has commented on it it obviously of no interest. i must be the only hair-brained,disorganised user

"i must be the only hair-brained,disorganised user" no, i have the same problem. but this seems to me rather like a generic "operating system extension" functionality ("attach notes depending on application", not as one specific to a database client.

probably GumNotes does something like this.

was away for a few days. gumnotes is great but not quite what i need. it pops up every time i select the heidi window so adding yet more clutter to desktop (oh for a 42" monitor) and is another item to close or move out of the way. i'll stick to my little spiral-bound black book. many thanks for the suggestion.
