Suggestion: Auto clear filters

I'd like to make a suggestion for a feature that I don't see mentioned anywhere: the option to auto-clear any filters that were used on data tabs during the session.

I have a habit of leaving HeidiSQL open for long periods of time during the day, and I have a bad habit of filtering tables looking for data and then going on to other tables to do the same thing, forgetting to clear the filters on the other tables. Those filters all seem to remain when I close and then reopen HeidiSQL later, which is a nuisance.

Could you add the option to have HeidiSQL automatically clear out those data filters when the program closes?

There is already a button and a menu for this. You will see it when you have some filter active, right besides the "Recent filters" pulldown menu. There are 3 options:
- Clear filters for the current table
- Clear filters for all databases
- Clear filters across all connections

I used to use this, but I don't see it anymore, could you tell me if you moved it? If not would you consider putting it back?

Thank You

I think that button was removed, for the benefit of the global setting in Tools > Preferences > Data > "Remember filters ... across sessions".

See the user report for which I did that: issue #2776.

Thanks for the workaround. I did like the level of control offered by the original method with deletion being at the table level, but at least I can clear the list this way when it gets out of control. I would hate to erase every filter option on every restart.

I notice it caused my tables to forget what columns to show as well (just like issue 2776 says it will).

I would really like to see you restore the original feature and leave the new global option as well for those who would rather use that method.

Thank you

I cannot and won't do both. And I don't think this needs to be so finetunable as it was earlier. The current global option is fine I think.

I understand you can't do everything that is requested of you, I hope you will consider this request.

Would you consider if it would be possible to separate the global switch so clearing the selected columns and clearing the filters could be independent of each other? I have a lot of columns turned off on a regular basis.

Thank You
