If you are making a YouTube video about HeidiSQL and private WoW servers:
Here's a couple of things you should mention.

1. HeidiSQL is just a client, and the server needs to be running before connecting.

2. MySQL accounts and WoW accounts are two different things.

3. Data (such as WoW accounts) cannot be changed before the correct database (1) and correct table (2) has been selected in the object tree (left).

4. SQL scripts will, if they do not include database names in them, run against the database currently selected in the object tree.

Mentioning the above bullets would clear up a lot of common misconceptions.

If you are creating your own private WoW server package:

* You can create a desktop shortcut that starts HeidiSQL with correct parameters:

* You can create a connection profile by dumping a few bits of data in registry.

* You can open SQL scripts by double clicking if they're named ".sql".

* You can include database names in SQL scripts so the user does not have to select it, for example:

To create an account on your private WOW-server,

1. Make sure the server is running.
HeidiSQL is a client, it needs a running server to work.

2. Connect using HeidiSQL.
You cannot use a WOW account for this. You must use a MySQL account.
The MySQL account is created when the MySQL server is installed, in this case the MySQL Server came as part of the WOW-server package, so the author of that package decided what the user and password are.

3. In the tree view, find the correct database and inside that database find the correct table. This is specific to the WOW server, so you need to find out what the name of the WOW database is, and what the name of the table holding WOW-account info is.

4. Click the Data tab on the right to modify data.
To save your changes, just move the cursor away from the row you're editing. Or click the check mark in the top toolbar.

Google "10061" for starters.

This error means that a TCP connection could not be established, because either the target machine or a firewall on the route actively refused the connection.

Make sure that the server is running, listening on the correct port, and that your firewall has a hole punched in the right spot.

In WindowBlinds, add HeidiSQL to the list of excluded applications.

If you want the problem fixed rather than worked around, you should contact StarDock.

i have problems connecting to heidi sql ive had a look at some of the guides on here but they seem irrelavant to my problems when i try to connect it comes up with error "could not establish connection sql error: cant connect to mySQL server on "127.0.0.1" (10061) can some1 plz help me with this error!

ok so when i go to click the "New" button i get this dialog box and it says "Access violation at address 6601E25C in module "wblind.dll" Read of address 00000020." i rlly want to get past this so i can load my freaking SQL file... plz help me =] thx

Now and then, there are questions here about World of Warcraft. Most of the times the answer is the same: we don't know anything about WoW in this forum.

HeidiSQL is a graphical front-end for the MySQL database server and WoW is a game that just happens to use a MySQL database like many other programs do. If you have questions about the game you'd better find a specific forum about WoW.

HeidiSQL is only a graphical front-end for another program, MySQL Server, so it's basically useless if you don't have the latter.

You can download MySQL Server from its web site: http://www.mysql.com.

ok ive got ac web ultimate repack. ive got it working with hamachi so my friends can join. so i got heidiSQL to edit the database. ive got the accounts added fine, but with the new accounts they cant go into outlands. im a complete noob so any help or walk through video would be great.

If that's not working your administrator likely has explicitely deactivated this option on the server for security reasons.

Normally a flag is set at the time being connected that allows usage of that command. You can try to set this flag manually before importing your CSV file:

Hello,

I've downlaoded a table (*.sql) with data I want to load in my program. But I cannot import .sql files. So I wanted to use HeidiSQL to load the .sql file and export it then as .xml
Do I have to connect for this to a server? Can I connect to 127.0.0.1?
I also tried to use the hostname 'localhost' but I cannot connect.
How can I create a local server on my computer?
Are there any easier solutions to convert the .sql data?

SQL-Error: The used command is not allowed with this MySQL-Version.

Verbindung funktioniert einwandfrei,
MySQL-Version 4.1.13

was kann ich tun.

Yes, the results in any of the two grids can be exported as CSV, XML and HTML. Just click right in the grid and click "Export data".

I'm afraid you meant an SQL dumpfile export which is at least not possible within the grid of the "Query" tab, because it can be the result of a complex join or so. These results cannot be brought back to a single table.
