I can't connect

This is going to sound very dumb so apologies in advance.

I have recently downloaded and installed heidisql but I can't seem to connect. I have a WordPress site that I host with 1and1 and I want to be able to manage the database properly. I know my ftp credentials and my MYSQL database details but I can't for the life of me seem to login with session manager.

What I am doing:
Network type - MySQL (TCP/IP)
Hostname - I am using the MySQL database hostname provided by 1and1 under the MySQL database section
User - I am using the MySQL database username provided by 1and1 under the MySQL database section
Password - I am using the MySQL database password provided by 1and1 under the MySQL database section
Port - 3306

I also tried filling in my ftp credentials in here but that didn't work either. So what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help.

I guess 1and1 does not accept remote MySQL connections, as stated here.
