today, I was surprised when I have to "ALTER" a table, and I found that selecting the datatype doesn't work, and the worst part is i missed several types. I couldn't change the tipy by selecting on the combo!

It seems as if you press "date" and a new options will be available, but It doesn't work, at least in version 8.1.0.4581!

Yes, that obviously happened during my VirtualTree update yesterday. Sorry for the mess. Please starr issue #3389.
