If you are trying to access a database included in a website package, you should study their terms of service or ask their service first.

Many webhosts do not allow database access via external programs and force you to use phpMyAdmin (for security reasons, next to other things).

You would have to check that ... nobody here can help if your host does not allow external access.

OK. And why do you need SSH?

I'm Sorry.
SSL.

To clarify:
- some hosts allow outside db access via TCP/IP
- some hosts block external TCP/IP, but allow tunneling
- some hosts don't allow external access at all

So before you try something that may not work, you should find out what your host allows you to do. That is what I wanted to point out.

Addition: my host for example blocks all TCP/IP db connections and only enables tunneled access when the customer actually pays for it. Its not included in the basic hosting package. Trying to access a db located in a basic hosting package via SHH therefore fails, even if the SSH connection is set up correctly.
