Selecting multiple columns doesn't show them selected

I have the latest 9.3.0.5045 and when I select multiple columns to delete, it only changes background color on the first one selected. However, it will delete all columns selected. Makes me have to be careful.

I am sure that it is me, but...

Are you sure you mean columns, not rows?

Ooops - you are right, I should have said rows.

Ok, we're talking about rows, not columns. I was asking because we had quite a few misunderstandings in other forum threads about that. Also, there is the word field, which seems to mean one single cell in a grid to some people, while other people seem to read field like column. Well..

Deleting selected rows should be quite clear when you use the rightclick menu item, which is labelled Delete selected row(s). A click on it also shows a confirmation dialog, saying Delete 2 (or whatever) row(s)?. But I guess people do not read dialogs :)

I am saying that I cannot select MULTIPLE ROWS at once (only one), whether I try to stripe them with my mouse, hold CTRL down and click on them one at a tine, or click the top 1 while holding the Shift key down then going to a bottom one (still pressing Shift) and click on it. Can only get one to highlight, but all rows attempted will be deleted when I confirm the option via right then left mouse click.

Hope that is clearer.

Well, the selected rows have a gray background, while *unselected rows have the default white background. The blue background is just for the focused cell, as it's important to know which one is focused, for various rightclick actions.

Hmmmm. I am running Windoze 8.1 and Heidi 9.3.0.5046 and it never shows me a gray background when I left click anywhere on a ROW. Always only shows a blue background.

Seems that something simple is very wrong here.

Could you please post a screenshot here?

The heidi.png attachment shows a scene where I left clicked on the first ROW (10,001 and it got highlighted in blue) while holding the CTRL down and then clicking on the next ROW down (which is now highlighted, but the first ROW is no longer highlighted AND I had kept the CTRL key pressed).

BEFORE I performed the preceding exercise, I went into Tools/Preferences and issued a 'Restore defaults' click.

heidi.png shows the first and second row perfectly highlighted in gray, doesn't it?

[expired user #4803]'s profile image [expired user #4803] posted 8 years ago Permalink

No, as the screenshot shows, only the last line clicked on gets hightlighted, and the color is blue. No matter what I do to select a ROW, I never see a gray background color.

Should I uninstall/reinstall as a test solution?

[expired user #4803]'s profile image [expired user #4803] posted 8 years ago Permalink

The latest... 1) I uninstalled Heidi 2) I removed all references to Heidisql from the windoze registry 3) I restarted my computer 4) I ran HeidiSQL_9.3.0.5046_Setup.exe 5) I ran heidisql 6) I created a new session, using default name - did nothing else Attachment 1 shows that 7) When I opened the new unnamed session, both my old databases appeared in the with their contents (See the 3 attachments)

The question is: where did it get the schema, etc for the old databases ?? Something simple seems wrong here.

Uninstalling is not required.

On the attached screenshot, which is just a reupload of yours, you cannot see the gray background on the two selected rows? If so then you should buy a new monitor :)

My, I never considered that as the problem. If you can see a gray background, then I certainly need to get a new monitor.

Sorry to have been such trouble under these circumstances. Thank you for your help.
