Not connecting to Database through HeidiSQL but will through Excel

Hello There,

Not too knowledgeable about connecting to Databases but I'm fine once I'm in there. I've recently gone to a new work place where they use a similar sort of Database for Hotels. My old place was easy connection to the server, but now I have a connection that requires "SQL Anywhere 12" or something like that. Heidi worked perfectly on the old one

I can currently connect to the server via Excel and choosing ODBC and selecting "SQL Anywhere 12" as the driver seems to be already installed in there. I then try to connect through Heidi with MySQL TCP/IP and enter the same Details I get the error "lost connection to mysql server at 'reading initial communication packet system', error 0"

Is there something I might be doing wrong or will Heidi not work correctly with this type of Database?

Thanks for any help in advance!

"SQL" is just the acronym of a standard query language, a dialect of which is spoken by most database engines—it doesn't mean that everything that has "SQL" on its name is the same product.

Neither MySQL nor HeidiSQL have nothing to do with SAP SQL Anywhere so it's no wonder you can't connect to it.
