I just wanted to say that the team behind HeidiSQL deserve a round of applause! The HeidiSQL Tool, is one of the best free MySQL admin tools that I have ever used! It has been extremely fast, stable and very easy to start using. Keep up the great work!

i'll third that notion. Have enjoyed many years of mySQLing and MF made my life alot easier and now HeidiSQL is continuing with that.

I "fourth" that. Is that possible? Anyway, I'd like to express my congratulations on a really smart piece of software as well as my thankfulness to its creators. I've been using MySQL Front for years and I think it beats MySQL AB's own GUI in terms of usability and speed.

Please allow me a question. How on earth did you come up with the name "HeidiSQL"? :D

I also wonder whether there is a road map for future development detailing which functions are about to be implemented, now that MySQL has done the Phoenix thing. Will it support the 5.0 features, such as views, stored procedures, etc.? Of course, you could always write a query for it, but obviously this defeats the idea of having a GUI.

Thanks a lot! :D

The name goes back to an idea from my collegue Daniel. I think he's a fan of Heidi Klum, a german top model. For me personally I didn't have many ideas for a name when I started the rebirth of MySQL-Front 2.5. Well, I had the idea from Daniel and then realized my two kids love "Heidi", an animated cartoon series about a young girl in the bavarian alps. So the name was there.

I also wonder whether there is a road map for future development

Sorry, we don't have such a roadmap. We simply don't have enough resources to do things like that, concept papers or whatever. Developping HeidiSQL should keep being pure fun.

And: we also love to not have any well-paid manager here, which could dictate us which feature we implement and which not. And that is pure fun :)

Well, is anyone working on the 5.0 features for pure fun then?

Just wondering.

Trigger support was recently discussed on the developers mailing list. Besides that nothing 5.0 specific feature is about to be implemented currently.
