Connection failed after upgrading to HeidiSQL 12.0

Hi there,

After upgrading to HeidiSQL 12 today (I had previously ignored all prompts to upgrade to 12) my existing saved sessions no longer work. They all error with:

Connection failed

server closed the connection unexpectedly
This probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request.

Things I've tried:

  • Switching the library
  • Explicitly adding HeidiSQL to the Firewall

Other notable things:

I did upgrade to Windows 11 recently, although I'm fairly sure I was using HeidiSQl successfully on Windows 11 prior to the HeidiSQl 12 upgrade today.

Is anyone else encountering this issue?

Are you able to connect through pgAdmin or any other tool? If yes I would double-compare the firewall settings for HeidiSQL with it. I must admit I am just guessing. Did just test connections to MySQL on Windows 11, but at least that worked without problems.

In that case I would still guess some network or firewall issue. Probably also check other protocols, like SSH or FTP.
