List of last used connection to long

hschmid's profile image hschmid posted 6 months ago in General Permalink

When I try to open a new connection, there is a very long list showing in the menu - and I have to scroll to find the desired connection. Ofcourse I can open the connection manager and find my connection but it would be nice to have this "shortcut" available. Scrolling the menu does not work with the mouse wheel.

Is there a possibility to edit (shorten / clear) the list of the last used connections? Maybe in the registry somewhere?

Kind regards Harald

Do you mean the File > Connect to > ... menu, or the button on the main toolbar with the drop down arrow? Both should work similar, and both are also long here on my system but look quite usable.

I just discovered that in my first post the screenshot is not attached - now it should be :-)

to find the desired connection I have to scroll this menu. And to scroll I have to click (repeatedly or hold) the small arrow button at the very bottom of the menu. This way it is easier to use the connection manager ;-).

Note that list does not show recently connected sessions, but just all connections, in alphabetical order.

A list of most recently used connections should be shown when you hover your mouse over the HeidiSQL icon in your taskbar. At least that was working at some point, although it does not here on my Win11 currently.

thank You very much for this clarification. :-) It's not very important, but "last used connections" would be a "new" feature, I would be glad to see. By the way - HeidiSQL is a great program! I donated a while ago - and consider to do it again.

A conveniant way to see the recently used connections, you can use the session manager and sort the sessions by "Last connect" (click on the column header). That way, the most recent session is on top, followed by the less recently used:

Thank You very much! This works - as long as You have no (sub-)folders ;-)
