Translation strings amperstand?

Hi,

I am currently translating to French, and in the strings to proceed I have one reading like "Project &Manager". I take it the amperstand is a shorthand to define a key shortcut (alt+M in menu) should it be added to the translation, or just ignored? (so it should read like "Gestionnaire de projet" in French, or "Project Manager" w/o the amperstand?

That's a good point. These ampersands are part of the original text, and by removing the ampersand from a translated string, these menu items have no shortcut any longer. The text in French contains a "p" like the English source by chance - other languages or other strings may not contain that "p", so a change to that is unavoidable.

I would say both ways are ok, either remove the ampersand from the French string, or add it in front of the same character, "p" in this example. Leaving the string in English should be the last choice - although there may be some rare cases where this is a good thing, probably when the string is some kind of name.
