Hi!

I am using Windows 7 and HeidiSQL v12.13.0.7147. Heidi says that I need to update. (Image 0)

I always update when software ask for it, but now the HeidiSQL installer says I need to CLOSE Windows Defender for Update. (Image 1)

Is the first time Heidi ask for deactivate Windows Defender.

Why Heidi ask for it?

Thank you.

(I am spanish spoken.)

Windows Defender is being detected as “using files that need to be updated” (or otherwise locked by the installer), so Inno Setup’s automatic “close running applications” logic is treating it like any other process that has to be closed before continuing.

It is not normal or desirable for an installer to request that a security product be closed; from a user‑experience and security perspective, it is a red flag even if the installer is legitimate.

As I heard that for the first time, I can only guess this has to do with the old Windows version. You may also use the new Linux version of HeidiSQL on Ubunto or any other Debian, if you hesitate to update Windows.
