Edit options clarification

Is there supposed to be a pop out window on the right that is an edit window? If so I cannot find it.

Is editing in the data cell or by hitting the dots in the cell (or FN+F2) the only edit windows? Also what is the recommended character limit for a data cell?

Yes the button with the three dots brings up the text editor:

The cells have a maximum length defined in the table definition, on the "Table: xyz" tab:

Thank you, I have been led to believe there is a side-panel version of the editor (with the [Text] [Binary] [Log]. Is this incorrect?

There is no such a panel. Sounds as if you saw a screenshot of a different application, or?

I hadn’t thought about it that way, but your approach makes things much clearer. I’ll try this on my setup and see how it goes.
