Copy query with formatting from 'Queries' tab - is it still possible?

Hi everyone,

until recently, we were able to copy SQL queries directly from the "Queries" tab in HeidiSQL and paste them with syntax highlighting (colors, italics, etc.) into other applications (e.g., Word, Outlook).

It seems that this is no longer working. Now the queries are pasted as plain text without any formatting. Is there still a way to copy queries with syntax highlighting? Maybe there is a setting or a workaround I'm not aware of?

Yes, I removed that formatting on clipboard due to bugs in commit:a41d2dd0af75bc36ee01ab2dbc116b1d0c5ec3b1 . The underlying SynEdit crashes many times here. See this forum thread for some more details.

first of all, thank you for the clarification about why the RTF/syntax highlighting clipboard feature was removed and the very fast response.

I completely understand that stability has priority, especially if SynEdit caused crashes or even affected the system clipboard globally.

That said, I would like to share that this feature was extremely useful for documentation purposes. Being able to copy SQL queries with syntax highlighting directly into tools like Word or Outlook saved a lot of time and improved readability significantly.

So I wanted to ask:

Is there any chance of bringing this feature back in a safer way in the future? For example:

• as an optional setting (disabled by default)
• or via a more stable export method (HTML/RTF copy)
• or even as a "copy as formatted text" option

Alternatively, do you have any recommended workflow or workaround to achieve similar results?

Yea I can give it a new try, probably with a more cleaner way without causing crashes. But please open a feature request ticket on Github for that.
