Dark Mode

I see that there is a Display->Color Scheme->Dark but instead of getting an expected dark mode, only the query text changes and actually gets lighter against the already-white background. The white background is hard on the eyes especially at night so a true dark mode is needed.

Yes, that "Color schemes" are not for toggling the dark app mode on or off, they are just for the colors in the editors and grids. Please use the Style/Theme mode in Tools > Preferences > General.
