I can connect to my remote MySQL host, but cannot see my database

For the longest time, I have been using a Portable USB version of HeidiSQL (version 3.0) to maintain my remote database. About a week ago, I noticed that although I could still connect to and see my database, any changes made within HeidiSQL would not take effect. As a workaround, I have been using phpMyAdmin logged in under my host's web control panel. I tried to use the latest release of HeidiSQL (5.1 Portable) and while I am able to connect, I cannot see my database. I do not have permissions to access settings in "User Manager". I like the intuitiveness of HeidiSQL and wish to continue using it. Please advise (in layman's terms). Thanks!

Is there some error message you could provide here?

For older MySQL servers, you can specify a database before connecting, in the session manager. Probably that's what you need, while I don't know your server version.

Okay, I feel a little foolish. But now I can get in and see everything (in both versions, 5.0.0.3272 and 3.0 rev 572).

It looks as though my host was making changes to the system. After I sent my initial question, I couldn't get onto the database at all. Now I have a new MySQL host name. Thanks for the quick response Anse!
