Not sure this had asked before.

I missed the old feature of having the field name display at the treeview,
will this featue re-appear?

Because sometime when need to create a new table, I need to refer
to 1 or more tables, now need more steps.

Are you referring to a feature that was in an older version of HeidiSQL or that was in MySQL Front?

I were refer to older version HeidiSQL (installer 3.0 or older).

Yes, that feature was removed some time ago, not sure in which version/revision exactly. Column names are displayed in the helper box besides the query editor, at least that was the agreement on the developers mailinglist at that time.

I'm also missing that tree structure a lot. There's heap of cases in which that tree structure was very usefull as an overview. If there would've been a public vote i would definitely have voted in favour of keeping it that way

at least that was the agreement on the developers mailinglist at that time.

is that a closed mailinglist for developers only, or do you accept input from users too? (i am a developer btw, just not a heidi-developer or even a delphi developer).

I must have missed it, because it's not something I remember. Anyone have Screen shots?

The tree view only has named database objects now.

How about the syntax popup in the query editor? Doesn't it do precisely what you want - enter the table name and a dot, and you have your list of columns to choose from?

yes, but not in all cases. it only works with regular queries and only if you use aliases. it doesn't work, for example when creating triggers or stored procedures and there's also a lot of cases in which you don't use an alias.

also, when i'm writing code i used to have Heidi in the background, with the overview column on the left showing behind my editor. i often use table-objects to talk to instead of writing complete queries and then it's very handy to have an overview of the all the table structures in the background.

These are just examples that pop up in my mind now, but there are many more.

If the syntax popup does not work in some situations (stored procs?), please do file a bug report describing the problem.

Great screen capture. I see what you're referring to. Thanks.
