Hi. I'm new here but I can only find one instance of someone moaning about the old field mapping option in the CSV import being taken out.
So I thought I'd just start a new thread to see why on earth more complaints haven't been made because of the loss of this useful option?
I update HeidiSQL regularly but I'm now looking through my hard drive to find an earlier build so that I can get this feature back. It really made importing so much easier and I cannot understand why HeidiSQL thought it was a good idea to get rid of it!
The import dialog is now so dumb you have to open up the csv file yourself to see the field names. This a hassle. I either have to open the csv file and flip between the screens or grab a pen and (Argh! No!) write the field names down - I didn't have to do this before!
So perleeeeeeeeease lovely people at HeidiDQL BRING BACK FIELD MAPPING IN THE IMPORT DIALOG!!!!
Field mapping
You are wrong - there was never such a field mapping feature. However, was requested as issue #1379.
I beg your pardon but I distinctly remember a few versions back having the ability to map csv fields to fields in the destination table.
The dialog to do this had a wide button on it that stretched across the width of the dialog itself and the field lists were located side by side, so I'm sorry but I know I'm not wrong on this!

OK. You got me. I just went back to version 3.2 and the facility I mentioned still isn't there.
Sorry but I didn't dream this so perhaps I'm thinking of another app entirely!
However, there is a post elsewhere on this forum where the user says the same thing as me.....

Hehe, believe me, I'm having this dialog in mind, from the very first MySQL-Front versions and there was never such a feature, even if you insist there was, and even if there are 10 users trying to tell me the oppositeIt was definitely another application where you saw that.
I beg your forgiveness oh mighty anse, for you are indeed correct and I am but an insect in your presence!
I finally found the dialog I was dreaming about in SQLite Administrator by Orbmu2k. Doh!
That's the trouble with developing in mulitple database formats obviously! Sorry to have troubled everyone - I will now go and beat myself with a prickly branch....
My request still stands though: could we have field mapping in the import dialog HeidiSQL? (please) =0)

Thanks for clearing stuff you little insect under my feet. :)
Well, issue #1379 is open and waits for me to implement that. However, not the most critical one out of many.
