Rambling things, thanks, etc

Hi My name is Max and I have been using MySQL Front (this one) for a looooong time. My friend Peter was mirroring it once upon a time (2001?) and he showed it to me then.

I kept that copy for a long time because I saw that development had stopped and then it seemed to be restarted but different people (I read that saga... that was interesting and about in line with my experience I did not try that product but I asked some questions and was treated rudely).

Anyway I was very happy and excited to find HiediSQL so thanks so much for taking this up again. It's a very good tool and I like it. ( I actually made a donation about a week ago now to say thanks and I hope others who use it will think about doing the same)

Just a few comments/suggestions from a long time user. If any of them are suitable I would post them in the feature request list but I don't know if they are so please let me know.

1) I have long wanted the side tree to display the length (and type) of fields. But mainly length. This is so when I am creating tables that have multiple "foriegn keys" and particularly varchar ones I don't have to keep going back and forth to make sure I am setting up the fields in the new table properly. This seems like a small thing but it sure would make me happy.

2) This version seems more stable and less crashable then the old one I had. So good work there.

3) This version I find a bit quirky in terms of letting me update and I am not sure why that is happening. The old one I could just make changes and just lose row focus and it updated. This one not so much. Maybe I just haven't figured it out yet. Although it would be nice if for whatever reason it isn't going to update it shouldn't be editable at all I don't think.

4) I wish I could provide some templates or something for outputting result sets into. I guess this probably means some scripting language or something and I would guess is probably just a far off dream.

Although since there is XML support now perhaps if I could feed in an XSL sheet and it could be processed? That would give me what I wanted.

Maybe that's possible.

Well that's it for the wish list and comments. I just want again to say thanks and a job well done and I'd have alot of pain in my life without this tool so I am very grateful.

Hi Max, I too use MySQL-Front since 2001 (v1.22 then, 2.5 now).
Your feature request for 'side tree ' display of table field info is good to have and is in MySQL-Front2.5.
To display field, index & key info the same as the table-properties window like "ID - int(11)" below the table name in the left(tree) windows.
