hello;

I installed a kiosk software on my computer (for testing purposes), and now my heidiSQL is generating an error when I attempt to OPEN it:

SQL Error (2003) in statement #0: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (10061)

- any thoughts, please?

by the way, my heidisql is configured to access my mysql:
- network type: mysql (tcp/ip)
- hostname: 127.0.0.1

Doesn't that mean that your kiosk software is working as intended?

aha ... I should have mentioned that I have the kiosk software turned off ... sorry.

Well, "can't connect" definitely means your server is somehow not running, or it's blocked, or runs on a different port, or HeidiSQL is blocked.

suggestions on handling the possibility of the port issue??

maybe sitekiosk blocked the port and I can tell heidisql to use another one, or??

The server is running, as I can visit localhost-based websites in my browser.

- thanks.

"The server is running, as I can visit localhost-based websites in my browser" only means your web server is running.

do you have a mysql database server installed and running on your computer ?

jfalch, thanks for responding.

yes, the local-based websites (running on my locally installed apache) connect to a php/mysql backend, and they are runing as expected. Also, I can access the database through my local phpmyadmin ui.

- thanks, Shannon

hello ... i am still struggling with this problem ... I could use some help.

I uninstalled the kiosk software from my computer, then uninstalled my heidisql, then re-installed heidisql, but still get the error:

"sql error (2003) in statement #0: can't connect to mysql server on '127.0.0.1' (10061)"
