Completely took down my computer!

I managed to run a badly written query using HeidiSQL and this completely took down my computer. I ended up having to reboot in order to recover. It even caused my graphics card to give up for a while. The mouse was completely unresponsive. And, eventually, I received a crash message from Heidi SQL.

I was playing around trying to figure out how to get the data I want to display how I want. So I normally write a bunch of junk queries to get there. In this case, I was doing subqueries and doing a join.

  1. The query was written very poorly
  2. I don't believe my indexing on my tables is any good.
  3. I caused HeidiSQL to crash! :)

I have attached the bug report. I don't really need any support here. I just didn't know where else to submit the bug.

allocated memory : 34.16 GB

Well... this could explain the issue. The query probably returned a really huge data set.

It was a very poorly written query. The final query returns a data set of only a few dozen rows.

I just thought I would pass it on since I did get an exception in Heidi SQL.
