Many crashes with 9.3.0.5109 on Win10

Hi Ansgar,

I have many crashes a day with Version 9.3.0.5109 on Windows 10 at the moment.

Mostly the program crashes when I edit some values in my database fields. Some crashes are reproducable, so I am not able to change the value in my field. I have to write an own update statement to change the value.

In the attachment a bug report when trying to edit a date value (reproducable).

If I could do something to help you to find the bug(s), let me know.

Thanks a lot, Marv

Seems to be related to the logging of SQL commands in the lower history panel. I bet if you disable all checkboxes in Tools > Preferences > Logging, these don't appear any longer. However, I haven't made the same bad experiences with logging yet.

Hi Ansgar,

yes this works. I have disabled all chechboxes in "logging" and can't reproduce the error again. What I also find out yesterday: When I click in the date value field and use the arrows to change the date heidisql is not crashing. When I type in the same date in the same format manually in the field heidisql is crashing.

Is it possible to fix the bug? I sometimes use the logging in the screen to copy the sql statements and now they are missing. :-)

Thanks a lot Marv

I'm seeing something with 9.3.0.4984, when creating a table (adding the columns). Bugreport1 handles that.

In following the advice on the logging, it seemed to be going well until bugreport2.txt.

Hi Ansgar,

something new about the crashes? Is there a possibility to fix them?

Thanks a lot Marv

That issue seems to require a SynEdit developer to get fixed. I am myself not so deep in the SynEdit code.

I haven't played with this in a while (I just went native with MariaDB), it seems that there is some issue with Windows 10 and the memory addressing, and it could be that there's a Win32 lib down in Winblows that is causing a rub here.

Wouldn't be the first time I've seen something like this - it might just be Win10.

I don't have the time to check myself... if I get time, I'll poke around

Hi, thanks a lot for the informations. Hope somebody could find the bug(s) and fix them. On Win7 I had not so many crashes with same version. So there could be a correlation with Win10.

In attachment another bugreport although the logging is still deactivated. Should I post all Reports here to make it easier to find the bug(s)?

Thanks a lot Marv

Man, I have a gutt feeling that's related to Win 10. All the callstacks you provided show a crash in a quite harmless Windows API function.

Hi ansgar,

thank you for your feedback. Is this a problem of Microsoft or is this a problem that could be fixed by you?

The Windows API functionality should not have been changed too much in Win10. However, if there are crashes, I cannot do anything here, as they are based on dlls somewhere in the Windows directory.

Probably there is another, totally unrelated cause for these issues, for example a graphics driver problem.

Hi ansgar, another two bugreports. At the moment it is no pleasure to work with heidisql. :-(

Do you have any ideas what I can do to get it stable on win10?

Thanks a lot Marv

Is your Windows 10 build 14393 a developer-version?

[expired user #10017]'s profile image [expired user #10017] posted 8 years ago Permalink

No, its a "normal" Windows 10 (64 Bit) Version which was delivered with this Dell-PC. All Updates (incl. Anniversary Update) are installed.
