HeidiSQL on MacOS

I heard that the new MacOS has an outdated Wine version (1.x). Can you please check that version, it should at least be 3.x or 4.x.

Why not just proceed using Wine (4.x)?

As a one-man-show, I am not able to additionally provide a Mac version. A native Mac version would require an entire rewrite of the application. Wine issues therefore always have a high priority for me.

What's the reason why the new Mac OS does no longer support Wine? Isn't Apple to blame here?

Feel free to develop a native Mac version of HeidiSQL. I am most likely not going to do that, as this requires a rewrite from the scratch.

Ansgar, Mac OS still support Wine, but doesn't support 32 bit. However, you provide 64 bit portable version so it should work. Unfortunately, it doesn't :(

Bug report and log from Wine's console in attachment.

Please update to the latest build and try again. That crash happened with the 10.2 release from June.

And then there is this line in your wine_console log - probably fixable with an update:

0009:err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path. Usually, you can find it in the winbind package of your distribution.

Hm, the exception just says FindOnExceptionDescEntry, which may be a late error in the exception handler itself.

Is there any chance you install a newer Wine version? Or probably some 3.x version?

wrotek's profile image wrotek posted 4 years ago Permalink

I’ve checked with the newest 4.19, tomorrow I will check 3.x and post update.

wrotek's profile image wrotek posted 4 years ago Permalink

Ok, with 3.21 version, Wine is crashing (i get Wine's error window and dump instead of Heidi's like in 4.19).

Also, I tested if any other apps working and for example notepad++ 64 bit, runs without any problems.

I have no clue why Wine/HeidiSQL is suddenly crashing. Someone told me Wine 4.2 runs ok with Heidi, also 3.14. You are, however, not the first one reporting Wine problems in the last weeks.

Could you ask them for more informations? For example which version does they run (version + portable/installer/etc)? How did they install Wine (brew/compile/built version from site)?

Issue #805 reports about another Wine issue. I just asked the reporter there for his Wine version.

ansgar's profile image ansgar posted 4 years ago Permalink

Issue #630 is another one.

Thank you. However they are both using Linux with 32 bit wine :( we need someone with MacOS Catalina and wine 64 bit.

I have an iMAC running MacOS Catalina and before the upgrade was using HeidiSQL with Wine without problem, I miss it. Can you provide a set of instructions for me to try out?

ansgar's profile image ansgar posted 4 years ago Permalink

Sorry I have no instructions which could help here. I'm a bit stuck here, would be glad to get some help here.

He probado HeidiSQL y Realmente Funciona en Crossover. Gracias @wrotek.

Just installed HeidiSQL with Crossover, works great except I had to manually tell it to use a Windows 10(64bit) bottle instead of the pre-selected Win7 one.

Hi! Excuse me, could you explain me how to change Windows 7 to Windows 10?
