Ads were blocked - no problem. But keep in mind that developing HeidiSQL, user support and hosting takes time and money. You may want to send a donation instead.

Can't connect to server after installation

Hello all,

I installed HeidiSQL 9.3 (using the HeidiSQL Installer 9.3 on the standard download page of heidisql) on my Windows 10 machine using all the standard settings:

  • Setup installed into C:\Program Files\HeidiSQL

But after the installation Wizard finishes successfully I tried to launch the application via the desktop icon. When I try to open a new session using the Session manager (see screenshot for details) unfortunately I get an error that I can't connect to the MYSQL server 127.0.0.1.

I tried to find this error message in the web and tried varies different Hostnames / IPs and tried installing it on a different PC but I would always get the same error.

Embarrassingly I managed to install HeidiSQL 2 month ago but I cannot reproduce that.

You need to install MySQL Server, which is an entirely different piece of software.
