I go to control panel. then to programs in windows 8. I click heidisql. then I select uninstall. then I get a error popup saying it cant uninstall because it don't exist. then I start the MySQL server. then run heidisql. it works. it exist and runs. yet it don't exist. I did a system restore. and its the same. I want to uninstall because of some odd behavour im seeing. same with Heidi updates. I may be a newbee to sql but im the king with html.

Do you have the 32bit version installed, and the 64bit version also?

I know I have the 64 bit version I uploaded it
32 bit am not sure.
Heidi is causeing a lot of trubble and correcting it with upgrades which cause new problems.. like mine right now

you uploaded the 64bit version?? Guess you meant downloaded.

Further on, I guess you have moved around files in c:\program files\heidisql . Or you messed around with your registry, perhaps with one of the myriad of PC optimizer tools.

the error I get when I try to uninstall Heidi says that a cbs whatever dll is missing
can I get it back from the dump.
