graphics not right. this is what it looks like when I open Heidi

That looks like a high dpi issue. Please update to the latest build - that should fix it.

I did: 10.2 from June 15, 2019

Here's what I have to do: I need to Change my Display to 100% ( from the 250% recommended ) on my laptop, start Heidi , move Heidi from my laptop to my standalone monitor, close the Change Display window. And I need to do that for each instance of Heidi.

Very time consuming and frustrating ...

As said, you just need the latest build (not the latest release!)
