Hi there, i have an mysqldb (or mariada, dont know exactly) running unter ubuntu linux. Now i must move the database and i have downloaded heidisql latest version for windows and mariadb.

is there a simple way so i can run the folder with the database files via heidisql under windows?

what i have tried: close heidisql, end mariadb-servcie. copy the db-folder in the database-folder. start the service, start heidisql: i can see the folder and views. and if i click a view: 1932 <table> doesent exist in engine.

Hm....!? is there at all a way to run a existing database moving to mariadb?

thanks a lot, elloy

further information: crazy, in the db-folder there are only ibd and frm files. for each table i can find one ibd und one frm file. there seems to be no data container or db file there. but the ibd's size should as be as like the data file. hm. think there is the ground of my failure thinking.

You should not mess around with the data files. Instead, make an SQL backup and import that on the target server afterwards.

HeidiSQL also supports exporting between two sessions.
