I have to abandon phpmyadmin as my client is removing it from all there servers. I am intending to use HeidSQL as a replacement.

I managed to find most things and so far it can do what I need. But there is one thing I just cannot work out.

I have a large user table with approc 500.000 record. I need to locate users via there email address on a daily basis. How to I search? I cannot find any magnifing icon not does the "search" menu offer any of the fields in the opened table? I just want to search in the email field? Yes I know i can write a sql but if I have to do that 100 times a day its very time consuming.

In phpmyadmin I just clicked "search" got all fields of the opend table and just entered the email address in the correct filed and I wsa done. 2-3 sec max.

I am sure HeidSQL can do this as well. I am just unable to find it. Any help would be appriciated.

Oh there are several ways to search. The simplest one is the quick filter items in the rightclick menu: rightclick a field which holds a value which you want to have in a filter. Then point to "Quick filter", then in the sub menu click the filter type you like to apply. The top most ones simply contain the value from the focused field. The ones in the middle will prompt you for a value. The last ones apply a filter from a text you have in the clipboard. See the help page for a screenshot and for more search options.

The best thing would have been to include a search icon in the toolbar. Simple search!
