(Begginer) Exporting a database from a computer to another

Heya everyone, I'm a newbie to the database community, and I've been trying to learn more about it since I've discovered it. I've created a database, and I need to export it to another computer. I've been thinking about using the 'export database as SQL' option and sharing it with the other PC, but I'm not sure on how each feature there affects the exporting outcome (i.e: 'create' check box, 'delete + insert'). Could someone please cast some light on this topic? Many thanks!

(Obs: the database size is 2.9 mb.)

Please read the help section on that topic. I'm aware that these options can be confusing to beginners, so don't hesitate to ask again if something is unclear.

Thank you very much Mr. Becker, I've found the topic very useful! I only have one more question, what exactly does the 'drop database' part of it means? Is it going to delete an existing database on the target server, or does it drop the database in means of placing it? Thank you :]

"Drop" always means "delete", in database terminology. This is important to know. I will probably make this more clear in the dialog.

Activating the "Drop database" checkbox in the export dialog means, you want to delete/drop the database on the target server, if it exists. This can be handy if you want to be sure to have a clean database afterwards, without old/untouched tables.

If you're unsure and feel like losing data, I recommend to leave the drop checkbox unchecked. HeidiSQL then will overwrite only tables you are exporting. You can also test that by setting the output to "single file", so you can check what the export does in detail.

Thank you very much for the clarification on this topic, sir. This sure helped me a lot! I've been indeed testing a little bit to find out about the features, but it's always good to have sure knowledge. I will look forward to studying more with the forum topics.
